— Hobbs, NM—University of the Southwest has announced the upcoming 15th
Annual Lea Community Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 3 at the Lea County Event Center. A full breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. at a cost of $3 per person and the program will begin at 8:15 a.m.
The Little Prayer Room, a free activity room with breakfast for children ages birth to age five and sponsored by Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), will be available during the event.
Special speaker for the event is Dr. Lynn Shaw of Hobbs. His message will be based on Psalm 118:24: “This is the day that the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
The Prayer Breakfast is hosted by University of the Southwest and sponsored by generous donors from throughout the community. The purpose of the event is to bring together people of all faiths to honor God and remember in prayer educators, law enforcement, veterans and active military, medical professionals, firefighters, youth, church leaders, family, senior citizens and community leaders.
The breakfast is organized by a group of community volunteers, from many religious backgrounds. Praise music will be organized by Carol Barnes and features the Hobbs High School Choir and NMJC Community Band, with other special music from area church groups and a solo by Hobbs resident, Kesa Gill.
Tickets are on sale now through November 3 from local churches, University of the Southwest, Forrest Tire in Hobbs and Pettigrew & Associates. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the breakfast.
