Admission requirements

Freshman admission is based on completion of a high school (or equivalent) education.

​

To be considered for admission to USW, you must satisfy the following admission criteria:

​

  • Completion of high school OR

  • Completion of GED program/high school equivalency

 

Freshmen students who do not meet the standard undergraduate admissions requirements will be required to submit an appeal to be reconsidered for admission.

HOW to apply

If you have never attended college (outside of dual credit courses) and would like to pursue an undergraduate degree at University of the Southwest, you're in the right spot and are one step closer to officially becoming a Mustang!

Follow these steps to apply as a First-Time Freshman:

Take some time to explore our academic offerings and decide what program you'd like to apply to.

Submit your application

Once you've decided what you want to study, it's time to submit your application!

Send in required admissions documents

Applications typically require additional documentation such as transcripts (high school or college), test scores, etc.

apply for housing

Freshmen and sophomores are required to live on campus. Housing also includes a required meal plan.

apply for scholarships & financial aid (Optional)

If you plan on utilizing financial aid, make sure to fill out your Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and check out additional scholarship opportunities.

Once your application and all required documentation has been received, allow three (3) business days for your application to be processed. Upon receipt and processing, you will be sent an acknowledgement via email by the Director of Undergraduate Enrollment. Next steps, additional information, further requests (if applicable), and initial admission decisions will be shared via email.

If you are then offered admission to USW, it's time to start planning for New Student Orientation! You will receive details for this via email.
