Position Summary:

The technology specialist is responsible and assisting the department with IT support needs on campus as needed.

Essential Functions:

1.  Serves as a standing member of the Campus Technology Committee.

2.  Assists Instructors and Students with issues in or related to the operation of the University’s Learning Management System and any related systems the University may utilize in conjunction with that system to deliver course content or instruct students.

a.  This is the primary are of responsibility this position exists to fill.

3.  Provides General support as needed through the IT ticketing system to students, faculty and staff as needed.

4.  Assists the IT team with configuration, setup and maintenance of on campus technologies on an as needed basis.

5.  Documents software licensing, configurations, etc.

6.  Attends conferences and workshops pertaining to various computing technologies.

Other responsibilities:

1.  Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology.

2.  Participates in campus activities.

3.  Scripting and automation skills would be desirable but not necessarily required

Education, experience, & skills required:

1.  Certificate or Associate’s degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience.

2.  Demonstrated strong technical and analytical skills, and effective communication abilities.

3.  Must be a team player possessing good people skills.

4.  Must possess a good working knowledge of current desktop operating systems and web browsers.

5.  Should have general knowledge of LAN architecture and be willing to learn, as needed, any additional or specific technologies.

6.  Familiarity with Blackboard and/or Canvas administration is strongly preferred.

7.  Must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to organize one’s work, establish priorities, and work independently.

8.  Should be able to lift up to 75 lb in short bursts while pivoting and or hold weight for a short time if needed during hardware installs. Must also be comfortable climbing ladders and/or working while leaning (in a safe manner) over heights of a story or more on rare occasions.
